To ensure that the level of child care remains consistently high, training is priority at Fairways. A careful training programme for all staff is in place and staff are given the opportunity to explore other areas they are interested in during their individual supervision. Staff have been provided with the opportunity to undertake individual courses such as counseling, therapeutic child care and sexual health .
All our staff are trained to use TEAM TEACH behaviour management strategies. This utilises a holistic approach of dealing with challenging and difficult behaviours and has since become the leading behaviour management strategy for care homes throughout the UK.
Dr. Sandy Burnfield, Consultant in Psychological and Therapeutic Approaches, designs and runs workshops for the team on specific topics as and when required, including communication, attachment disorder and team dynamics.
All new staff joining the team are put through their NVQIII in Caring for Children and Young People. The company is currently looking to establish its own diploma more specific to the nature of therapeutic child care.
