Independent Living Projects
The Supported Lodging Project has been designed for care leavers that are not yet ready for independence. The accommodation that we supply is a user-led service. The service caters for the needs of 16-21 year olds and the support provided is relative to their individual needs. An individual support program is tailored for every client. We aim to
provide a supportive environment with the emphasis on empowering the clients to help them gain the skills they will need to move
on to full independence.
The Accommodation
Fairways have a numbers of independent living units for young people. They consist of small family homes and can accommodate
two to four residents at a time. Clients will have a private room for themselves and communal areas, which consist of living room,
kitchen, and bathroom. The accommodation is near bus routes, town centers, train stations, colleges and local job opportunities are
always available.
Support Received
Clients will receive support in moving towards full independence. Normal areas that are worked on are education, employment,
health care, life skills, cooking, and budgeting. This support considers individual needs and differing skill levels. During the initial first
two weeks clients are involved in helping staff in completing assessments of their needs. Following this assessment the client's individually tailored support program and risk assessment will be structured incorporating clients support aims and objectives. Clients will be expected to attend support meetings with the unit manager / keyworker once a week to help staff acknowledge changing needs of the client and reformulate placement plans accordingly |
