Curriculum

We currently have a team of eight staff including qualified teachers and experienced tutors, all teaching a variety of subjects in line with the National Curriculum. Subjects covered include, Maths English, Science, PHSE, ICT, Music, Media Studies, Art, and Food Technology. We use the life skills syllabus of ASDAN. The ASDAN provision is set to increase within the school to enable as much transferable work and qualifications to be achieved. We also have our own outdoor activities tutor who oversees various offsite outdoor activities, including swimming, boxing, martial arts, rock climbing and a variety of water sports. We also use the services of our own Urban Arts tutor. He uses song writing, music production, DJ'ing, dancing and where appropriate graffiti art work etc as a means to engage our young people. Although initially carried out as a means of engagement, once the amount of academic work is increased this can be moved to becoming an extra curricular subject or alternatively some students may elect to choose Media Studies as a core subject.

In addition we use a more specialist qualified arts teacher who carries out specific clay modeling and creative art project work.

Our premises are a purpose built school, with six separate individual classrooms set in two and half acres of enclosed grounds. The classrooms include an I.C.T suite, a Food tech/life skills room, science room and our own recording studio in addition to two general classrooms.

The opportunities for undertaking vocational training are set to increase in the near future with the addition of further facilities in which to carry out a variety of activities including for example car maintenance.
